The sooner the EU collapses the better
What a mess we have here in Denmark today, the first day of the new border checks for those travelling to Sweden.

The Swedes have decided that all the commuter trains will now stop at Copenhagen airport - the last stop before the bridge to Sweden - all the passengers will get off the train and have their ID checked before they can re-board to continue their journey.

This is madness. Copenhagen and Malmo is a single metro area and has had a free movement agreement for 50 years, long before Schengen was invented.

Some of our staff in who live in Sweden but work in Copenhagen are facing one and half hour longer commute times. There are far fewer trains and long delays. Imagine setting up passport checks on all the bridges over the Thames in rush hour and you get some idea of what's happened.

And why?Because the fat trade union oaf whom the Swedes elected as their Prime Minister last year declared that all Syrians who make it to Sweden will get guaranteed permanent residency. There are 20 million Syrians and only 10 million Swedes. What could possibly go wrong?

The Swedes set up a trestle table at Malmo to welcome the "refugees" (they aren't refugees, but we'll let that pass) and were astonished when 10,000 people a day pitched up, two thirds of whom were not Syrians but Afghans, Iraqis and Somalis able to spot an open door when they see one.

So now Sweden has shut the door and says it can't take any more, hence the border controls. But that means all the "refugees" are piling up in Denmark on their way to Sweden, so Sweden's stupidity has now become Denmark's problem.

The Danes are furious, not surprisingly. Some of the anti-Swedish sentiment I have heard here these last few days is unprintable.

Like the idiotic Chancellor of Germany with her promise to take 800,000 migrants, the Swedish government failed to understand that in the Schengen area you can't make unilateral decisions about migrants. What if the 800,000 newly minted German residents decide to live in Denmark instead? Inside Schengen there is nothing to stop them.

And higher up the food chain lies the real responsibility - in Brussels. The EU has failed to comprehend the simple fact that the so called migrant crisis of 2015 wasn't a single year event to be solved but a permanent feature.Every year more will come and as there are more than a billion people who would rather like to move to Europe the flow is effectively infinite.

They should have towed the migrant boats back to Libya and Turkey and solved the problem in a few weeks.

Instead they have caused mayhem. Already European countries are at war (not with guns - yet) over who should take these millions.

The EU is a doomsday machine. It does precisely the opposite of what it is supposed to do.Instead of fostering harmony and co-operation it has set European countries and peoples against each other. The Euro was bad enough but this latest piece of incompetence is causing fences to be thrown up along borders between countries that were once friendly neighbours.

When we vote in the referendum we have a chance to torpedo this ghastly institution and save Europe from disaster - a role which always seems to fall to us for some reason.

I can't believe that any sane Englishman would vote to stay in and prop up this corrupt, venal and criminally stupid edifice.

It was cheap for the Kruytts to go there for holiday when Ireland joined the euro, much like everything else, it didn't turn out as the Irish thought. Big fishing competitions from uk (2,000) plus every month, came to a halt. Replaced by big fat Germans just chucking a rod over a boat to catch, kill and eat a few pike.

No,,too late. I just looked it up, it was the euro1999. Fucked up their tourist industry for years, I remember the landlord moaning. They made a good living from fishing/golf tourist.. Only the Germans went back after the currency changed.

Didn't Ireland have a vote on joining the euro? Once or twice they voted no, the e.u kept demanding another vote until they all got bored and finally got sucked in! Same thing gonna happen here, it go on and on and on til they get their way.

Some math:

There are 80 million Germans. 20 million ethnic Germans of breeding age (18-38). The birth rate is 1.3 per couple. So in 20 yrs there'll be 13 million in that age group and in 40 yrs only 8.5 million.

There are 5 million muslims in Germany in that age bracket, with approx 1 million more arriving each year. The birth rate per muslim couple is between 4 and 6.75 (depending on where they come from).

Split the difference for their birth rate (say 5) and suppose it falls in half for the next generation. Also assume a halt to all muslim immigration forever is announced tomorrow and no chain migration is allowed. Hey, you never know...

So the lowest possible theoretical scenario is that in 20 yrs there'll be almost as many breeding age muslims (12.5 million) as ethnic Germans. in 40 years there will be 15.6 million i.e. twice as many

If you add in another couple of million more immigrants before the authorities call a halt (more likely scenario) then you get, in 40 yrs, 22 million of breeding age. Suppose the birth rate doesn't decline and you get 44 million.

Or...

Looked at another way, the lowest possible outcome is that in 60 yrs (less than one lifetime) there will be almost as many muslims living in Germany as ethnic Germans. Allow for a couple more million before they shut the doors and there will be more. If the birthrate doesn't drop you get there in 40 years and in 60 yrs end up with twice as many muslims as Germans living in Germany

The numbers are similar for the UK.

But I'm sure everything will work out.

Yes. Interpol and other cross-border arrangements could not possibly happen outside of the EU.

Oh!

I had some pro-EU newsletter through my door last night, what a pile of shite. Banging on about the protection European arrest warrants provide, didn't do much fucking good after the Paris attacks.

Cameron's comments today leave the distinct impression that he is starting to realise that the entirely cosmetic non-deal he was originally prepared to settle for will not do the trick with the UK electorate.

I've always believed that you should help others BUT with an irremovable caveat, and that caveat is that in attempting to assist (someone/anyone) you do NOT put yourself, the "victim" or ANYBODY ELSE at additional risk.

Fuck off being a dead - or even impoverished - "hero".

I'm more than happy for anyone to benefit from my activities - providing that in doing so they neither impede me in what I am doing or assume I owe then any kind of responsibility for what was wholly their choice.

You've answered your own question - the context of the original intentions for trade and unity have been skewed by drive for unconditional social obligations.

Sir Alf 11.52

And lets not forget that when it degenerates into serious social unrest, the idealists who have perpetrated this disastrous social experiment will use their extensive network of contacts to evacuate themselves to safer climbs overseas, where they can sit back in safety and bemoan the indigenous population for not trying hard enough to accept integration.

That's right - they will blame us for it.

"raised in a traditional english methodist family like the vast majority of british people were"

I'm going to say that the vast majority of British people were not raised in an English, Methodist family.

Why do you make up this absolute rubbish?

Re: The sooner the EU collapses the better
Sir Alf, it's really not just liberals who think they have a duty of care to those they meet who are suffering. I was raised in a traditional english methodist family like the vast majority of british people were, part of that upbringing and part of the English psyche is that you care for other people.

It appears to me that people are rushing to abandon our traditional values to replace them with self self interest.

Of course the situation is difficult and some men take advantage of the situation but we have to deal with it, just saying "I don't like it, it shouldn't happen" doesn't answer anything at all really.

The rights of women being defended on theses boards is amusing though you must admit "grrrrr, your mrs, I need a photo to wank over grrrr".
